Mount Kaira - 16bit jrpg
A short 16-bit style jrpg with movement-based tactical combat and dynamic turn order.

Description

No fillers, one quest. Mount Kaira is a compact 16-bit style JRPG which drops you straight into a focused adventure which rethinks core JRPG mechanics. No random encounters, no fixed turns, no disconnected battle screens — combat is seamless and tactical, fought directly on the map with a dynamic turn order that makes every action matter.

This game is still a demo. It contains roughly the first half of the full content in its current state.

KEY FEATURES

SEAMLESS POSITION BASED COMBAT - No random encounters or separate battle screens. Fight enemies, directly in the game world taking positioning and terrain into account.

DYNAMIC TURN ORDER - Characters don't move in fixed turn order. Each action has its own duration, changing the turn order after every move. Strategically take advantage of this feature by carefully planning ahead.

NOSTALGIC PIXEL ART - Beautiful pixel art graphics paying tribute to the 16-bit era, brought to life without the technical limitations of those classic systems.

A COMPACT ADVENTURE - With an estimated total playtime of 2 - 3 hours for the full game, Mount Kaira is a compact adventure jumping straight into the action without much ado.

SYNOPSIS

An isolated village is facing its doom. The blessing of the holy mountain is fading and a curse has befallen the land. Plants stop growing and animals and people slowly turn to stone.

In a last desperate attempt, the village sage sends Kento, the last of the village's warriors, and Nami, the sage's apprentice, on a perilous quest: Climb mount Kaira and find the mystical moon flower. It might contain the last remains of the mountain's purity, but only blossoms in the night of a solstice.

The solstice is tonight. They must find the flower before the next sunrise or all is lost.
