Description
Game Summary - Alcori lives alone with her grandfather on a sailboat in an infinite ocean. Her favorite pastime involves watching Peepaw fly his kite over the crystal blue water. Time passes, and eventually, so does her grandfather. One terrible stormy day, Alcori loses her grandfather’s kite–her only true source of comfort. She despairs her loss but is compelled to find it by searching the world high and low. This search comprises the core gameplay loop. During her voyage, she makes friends with strange creatures who value her company. They eventually find the kite, though it is damaged beyond recognition. Alcori is again devastated, but her new friends comfort her–it seems they are the kite she’s been searching for all along.
This game was developed by two students, William Freeman and Josef Wallace, over the course of a semester. We wanted to capture the alternative themes of empathy and art that aren't commonly explored in games. This game is intended to be played by young children in kindergarten through second grade.
