"Sapling: A Tree's Tale" was born during the Global Game Jam, an event that challenges participants to create a game from scratch within a limited timeframe. This was my first ever game jam and I undertook the majority of it alone.

This is version 2.
"Sapling" is a minimalist RPG where players strive to keep a tree alive as long as possible. Success hinges on selecting the right upgrades to build a resilient tree capable of withstanding the changing seasons' unpredictable weather conditions. The game aims for a level of realism, where weather changes, driven by random number generators, mimic the unpredictability of real-life weather while taking into consideration the seasons adding a layer of challenge and strategy. This worked well and when testing the game I found the systems created weather systems that felt real to the location.
"Sapling" was featured in the showcase for the Hidden Heritage category of the Global Games Jam.
