The Wizard Who Lost His Face
Description
Update:
I've noticed several major issues with this version of the game that are not present in the downloadable windows version. I will attempt to fix these issues (if I can), but in the mean time, I highly recommended playing the downloadable version.
The world:
Not many wizards have the prowess to play games with God. They either give up early or fall ill trying to bear the weight of all that power. However, your master has come closer than anyone before...and lives to regret the tale.
In an attempt to create his own version of heaven, he, instead, created his own purgatory. As you journey through his "dream" world, you will uncover the eerie underbelly that lurks beneath the whimsical, cheery façade. However, as an apprentice, your magical skills will not suffice in protecting you from the powerful mages in this world. Therefore, your master has left you two magical items to boost your abilities: an amulet which grants you prowess over the four elements, and a cloak to protect you from harm.
Although these items grant you much power, they hold a limited amount of magic. So you must learn to utilize the environment and clever thinking in order to reach your goal: to uncover the dark secrets your master left behind.
The game:
The Wizard Who Lost His Face is a top-down, "stealth-wizard", immersive-sim with a narrative and world inspired Dante's Divine Comedy. You have a set of elemental powers that you can use to interact with the environment in a number of ways. For example, you can toss a fireball on a puddle of water to create a steam cloud which you can then hide in. You can also setup shock traps, create potions, transform people into chickens, oh...and you can make pretty much any object explode...
This is an early demo that I put together in roughly 6 months. You can expect the full release to expand on several components of the game including but not limited to:
- More spell and environment interactions
- Improved AI with more intricate schedules and behaviors
- 9 levels each with their own unique themes, story, characters, and mechanics
- Couch co-op
- And much more!
There is also a downloadable Windows version with better performance on itch.io. I will also be launching a Mac version there soon (unless it's completely busted...then it will be longer).
If you want to support the project feel free to leave a rating and share it with your friends! If you're feeling extra generous you can also send me a donation by heading to itch.io and the clicking "Download Now" above (don't worry, you don't actually have to download the game if you just want to play the browser version, but that's just where the donation buttons are). I'll also post a feedback form on here soon so you can send any ideas or critiques you have my way. So keep on the lookout for that!
