This game uses the traditional two words command entry for giving instructions such as Go North or Get Coat. You can also use the navigational gui to move around, if you prefer, and also toggle the inventory on and off display. As well as searching for your presents you need to either avoid, or get rid of, Scrooge, the ghost of Xmas, who will drain your score if he enters the same room as you. Scrooge is always moving, even while you're considering your next move, so watch out for him, and use F1 if you want to actually properly pause the game.

As well as the main quest to find your Xmas presents, there are also some sub tasks such as completing your school homework and finding all the Xmas cards your friends hid during the party in your house.
